OpusCapita to acquire Swiss e-invoicing portal Billexco

June 21, 2017

OpusCapita, a Nordic market leader in digital invoicing and payments solutions, continues to strengthen its buyer-supplier network and expand its geographical reach in the DACH region by acquiring Swiss e-invoicing portal Billexco AG.

Privately owned Billexco is a portal for electronic invoice exchange in both the business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) markets. It offers a simple, secure, and affordable solution for sending and receiving PDF invoices electronically. Founded in 2011, the portal is used today by 15 000 supplier companies and 70 buyer organizations in Switzerland and Central Europe, and it is one of the three e-invoicing service providers to the Swiss government.

“Integrating Billexco’s network into OpusCapita’s existing Business Network strengthens our global business ecosystem to facilitate B2B trade,” says Ahti Allikas who is responsible for network expansion in OpusCapita. Allikas is  a representative in OpenPeppol Association and European E-Invoicing Service Provider Association (EESPA).

“OpusCapita is already an important player in PEPPOL - the European network for e-invoicing and e-procurement - and has an extensive network of interoperability partners to support cross-border transactions in corporate trade. Billexco is a very important addition to this ecosystem. With this acquisition, the customers of both companies will have a wider reach for sending and receiving invoices electronically,” continues Allikas.

Boosting development of the Swiss e-invoicing market

Increasing the use of electronic invoices is a key objective for the Swiss government. The government initiative complies with the ongoing development in many European countries: by the end of 2018, over 300 000 public organizations in the EU will be obliged by law to send, receive and process electronic invoices. OpusCapita, an e-invoicing pioneer, and market leader in the Nordic e-invoicing market, has been chosen by the Finnish and Swedish governments to promote digitalization in invoicing, and to build electronic invoice processes.

“With our long experience in electronic invoicing, we will be able to bring additional value to the market, and support the transition from paperless PDF invoices to structured data e-invoicing. This is more efficient, and brings additional business and process benefits to both buyers and suppliers,” says Ahti Allikas.

“Being part of OpusCapita’s well-established Business Network greatly enhances the solutions and services that Billexco can offer to its existing and future customers. We will be able to offer true, structured data e-invoices in an international context,” says Walter Hagmann, the founder and owner of Billexco AG.

“The merger opens up new possibilities for cross-border invoicing. Our customers will also be able to benefit from the powerful solutions OpusCapita offers for the whole Purchase-to-Pay process. I’m looking forward to developing the network further,” says Hagmann.

Mr. Hagmann will continue to work on the Billexo portal and expand the business in the Swiss market after the closing of the agreement. The expected closing date is mid July 2017. The merger does not affect the daily operations of the portal, and the invoicing service will continue as before.
