A new chapter for OpusCapita and for our customers
Following last Friday’s announcement: OpusCapita has been acquired by Providence Equity, a leading US-based private equity fund, I wanted to take a moment and shed some more light on this exciting news.
During the past few years, OpusCapita has been strongly driven by its purpose – our ambitious goal of "Digitalizing Global Trade - One Customer at a Time". Through the change in ownership, this goal is now closer than ever before. As an independent company, in partnership with Providence, we aim to accelerate OpusCapita’s strategy to become a trusted partner for our customers on their digital transformation journey. In fact, this is more than just a change of ownership for OpusCapita, it’s the beginning of an exciting new chapter for us and for our customers.
A brief look back before we move forward
OpusCapita has been helping customers to digitize their transactions since 1984. Already back then, the core of OpusCapita was to support key financial processes such as invoice handling, payments, and cash management. OpusCapita has grown into the company we are today through several acquisitions. Now we have moved beyond digitizing, turning paper transactions into digital ones, and are about digitalization of entire business processes.
In 2015, we defined a strategy to become a global leader in source-to-pay. The strategy involved acquiring a leading e-procurement solution vendor, jCatalog, in 2016, and divesting the non-core parts of the business. In late 2017, we undertook the most significant transformation at OpusCapita, when we separated two business units and formed a new entity: OpusCapita Solutions.

OpusCapita is already positioned as a customer leader on the Spend Matters procure-to-pay, invoice-to-pay and e-procurement solution map. A key driver for digitalization in organizations is e-invoicing. The global e-invoicing market is expected to grow by 25% annually from €3.3B in 2017 to €16.1B in 2024, with Europe as the most significant region. As a leader in the Nordic market, where e-invoice adoption is already high, we are confident that OpusCapita is well positioned to support multinational customers in their global adoption of e-invoicing.
Under the new ownership, our purpose is more concrete than ever before. With support from Providence we will accelerate our transformation and global growth.

The change in ownership is exciting news not just for OpusCapita, but also for our customers. Most importantly, our focus is on our customers and their digitalization initiatives. The investment that Providence is making in OpusCapita will allow us to accelerate the development of core products and the migration from legacy platforms to even better support you, our customers in your transformation journey.
