New Managing Director for OpusCapita

 

Kimmo Kauranen, M.Sc., 46, will be appointed Managing Director of OpusCapita as of 1 January 2012. He is transferring to the company from Itella Information. OpusCapita's present CEO, Kari J. Mäkelä, will be appointed Member of the Board.

Kimmo Kauranen, who studied computer science at the University of Tampere, has been Sales and Marketing Director at Itella Information since 2007. Before that he held various positions of responsibility at Fujitsu Services for over ten years.

He also spent two years in Norway with his family where he and his team worked on the integration of an information logistics company acquired from Posten Norge into Itella Information. This wasn't an easy task as the company was unprofitable and the financial crisis of 2008 added to the challenge. The Norwegian subsidiary is now very profitable and growing organically.

"The Norwegian way is to unravel a problem in small portions before making a decision, while Finns tend to make quick decisions," says Kauranen about the cultural differences between Norwegian and Finnish leadership.

According to Kauranen, OpusCapita, which is now part of Itella Information, is a highly innovative software development company whose core competence includes cash flow process management and automation.

"OpusCapita has very active, innovative people. From Itella Information, I believe I can bring along strength in sales, particularly competence in solution sales and product launches to new markets," says Kauranen.

He describes himself as an open, objective, understanding and energetic person - and he wants to make things happen. These qualities make up his leadership.

In his spare time Kauranen enjoys various forms of exercise and spending time with his family, which includes his wife Kristiina and their twin daughters.
