Worldwide market study on e-invoicing published
November 05, 2014
E-invoicing is a global trend. That is a result of the worldwide market study “E-Rechnung 2014“ which was published on 14 October 2014 by the Swiss expert Billentis and supported by OpusCapita as a partner.
Billentis‘ analysts estimate that the worldwide volume of invoices anually processed is about 500 billion. Currently, the global share of electronic invoices is still less than eight percent of this volume. In Europe, already about a quarter of the invoices processed in the public sector or among enterprises is transferred electronically. In Germany, the share of e-invoices is 27 percent. And the trend is rising: Billentis forecasts that the said sector of payment transactions will grow by 22 percent per annum in Europe.
We at OpusCapita are convinced: The great potential for savings should make us expect an even higher rate of growth in the medium term. Billentis figures that implementing electronic and automated invoice processing can reduce costs by 60 to 80 percent.
In the course of the study the analysts evaluated projects from 50 countries and merged data from studies which represent a total of 15.000 enterprises worldwide.
